The big size Mamut pastels are hand extruded, one by one, on a 120-year-old mechanical machine that I personally restored and adapted for the purpose. It works by turning manually a crank, which starts a mechanical cast iron gear, extruding the dough. The result is an extra soft but consistent pastel.
All of our soft pastels have been made following the old traditions and Antique recipes, using the best pigments and materials. They all have been dried naturally under the sun, and the greatest care has been taken in their artisan production and packaging, with a manufacturing process entirely made by hand.
The Mamut Pastels are perfect for artists of any skill level, also for beginners. But they have been made thinking on professional artists that demand the highest quality and a velvety smooth and creamy touch that only the best soft pastels can offer.
They apply very well on Pastel paper such as Canson Mi-teintes, as on Sanded papers or prepared boards. They also work perfectly for both, covering large areas and for detail work.
All our pastels are safe and non-toxic. The set is presented in a handmade wooden box, 20.5 x 20.5 x 4cm
